Johnny Falla serves as the Associate Director, Innovation & Technology Pillar at Equity Group Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in Africa. The Innovation & Technology Pillar seeks to capacitate youth through digital skills acquisition to position them for success in the work in a digitally disrupted world. Johnny works closely with the +60,000 Wings to Fly and Equity Leaders scholar communities that have been supported through scholarships and leadership development programs. The Pillar partners with global educational partners like iamtheCODE, Huawei ICT Academy, WorldQuant University, Cisco Network Academy, and more to deliver ongoing trainings for hundreds of thousands of learners across the Equity business ecosystem. The pillar also focuses on sustainable growth for SMEs, encouraging entrepreneurs to build on Equity’s banking rails through API access to foster innovation around inclusive digital finance. The pillar is now supporting the launch of an AI Venture Studio out of Kigali that aims to focus partnerships for workforce transformation.
Johnny’s career spans both public and private sectors, having previously served as a program officer at the Skoll Foundation in California and worked at Andela and Just Capital in New York. Johnny has been based in Nairobi, Kenya for 7 years now, supporting tech startups in the logistics and creative sectors and raising venture capital. Johnny holds a BA from Stanford University and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
