Policy Developer - Fintech, Bank of Botswana

Ms Sehera is a financial policy and innovation professional with over 12 years of experience in central banking. She monitors global and domestic fintech developments and translates their implications into policy recommendations that align national strategies with international best practice. She has authored key internal research papers on digitalisation, cash usage trends, and the Digital Pula, shaping the Bank of Botswana’s policy direction on CBDCs and digital payments. She also leads fintech engagement initiatives, coordinates the Fintech Festival, and serves as Secretariat of the National Fintech Working Group responsible for driving Botswana’s National Fintech Strategy.

She contributed to the financial sector chapter of National Development Plan 12, with elements adopted into the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme to support a diversified, digitally enabled financial sector. In her previous role, Bank Examiner, she strengthened supervisory frameworks through development of the Risk Management Guidelines and review of the Banking Act, and played a key role in COVID-19 policy revisions to preserve bank lending capacity and financial system resilience.
