Managing Director, Better Than Cash Alliance

Nshuti is a proud mother of 3 girls and activist who passionately champions for equitable access and usage of meaningful digital financial services for everyone to empower and propel themselves to their biggest dreams. Currently, Nshuti is the Managing Director the Better Than Cash Alliance, now hosted by the United Nations Development Program Sustainable Finance Hub. In this role, she is leading the global Alliance to activate responsible digital payments, a crucial enabling digital public infrastructure, to accelerate the scale financial inclusion and support resources mobilization for individuals, businesses, governments and regional economic communities to attain their development goals. Nshuti also serves as a Senior Digital Advisor to the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. Previously, Nshuti successfully led the development and implementation of the Alliance's Africa Continental Advocacy Agenda to integrate #ResponsibleDigitalPayments into Africa's leading continental economic development agenda, the AfCFTA. Before joining the Better Than Cash Alliance, Nshuti served as Ecobank Group Manager, Push Payments & Merchant Acquiring, leading the development and deployment of payment solutions for entrepreneurs in 33 African countries, Visa Inc. Country Manager Rwanda, Burundi, and Malawi, and Rwanda Development Board IT Department Strategy and Policy Advisor, where she led the development of Rwanda’s National ICT Plan 2011 – 2015. Nshuti is notably President Emeritus of Girls in ICT Rwanda, which inspires Rwandan and African girls to choose STEM careers; served as Board Chair Emeritus of Leo Africa Institute, which nurtures Young and Emerging Leaders across Africa; Non-Executive Director of BBOXX Rwanda Board; Board Chair of Rwanda Internet Community Association (RICTA); and Board Member of Maranyundo Girls Initiative. Nshuti holds a Master of Science in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Management from Laroche University.
