Managing Partner, Africa Renaissance Ventures

Magdi M. Amin is the Managing Partner of African Renaissance Ventures (ARV), which backs visionary founders building Africa’s digital future. The Fund focuses on early-stage ventures in East Africa that solve for climate, human capital, and economic inclusion through technology.

Magdi brings over thirty years of experience focused on ethical leadership and responsibly applying the power of markets and technology to empower people. Magdi spent two decades with the IFC and the World Bank in leadership roles in East Asia, Africa, MENA and Washington. Magdi was Managing Director at Omidyar Network from 2018 to 2020, and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance in the Transitional Government of Sudan from 2020 to 2022. Magdi is Adjunct Faculty at CMU Africa and Johns Hopkins SAIS, and is on the Investment Committee of Co-Develop, which finances digital public infrastructure.

Magdi holds degrees from Princeton University and Johns Hopkins University.
