Arthur Germond
Country Director, French Development Agency
An engineer and economist by training, Arthur GERMOND has been working in the field of international development since 2007, when he joined AFD. Since then, he has shared his career between Paris and various AFD countries.
After holding various positions during his integration career (Energy and Environment Project Manager for East Africa in Nairobi, Economist in the Water and Sanitation Division in Paris), he joined the Mediterranean & Middle East Department in 2008 as Country Desk Officer for Palestine and Jordan.
From 2010 to 2013, he was Chief of Staff to the CEO of AFD. Appointed to the Johannesburg Regional Agency in 2013 as Infrastructure & Climate Change Project Manager for Southern Africa, he was appointed Deputy Director in 2015.
After a year as an independent consultant in support of several South African NGOs operating in the social sectors (microfinance, access to housing and basic services), Arthur GERMOND was appointed deputy head of the Fragility, Crisis and Conflict division in 2018. In August 2020, he took over the management of the AFD agency in Lebanon, before opening the AFD representation in Kigali in October 2021.
