Financial Inclusion Case Studies

Financial Inclusion Case Studies at the Inclusive FinTech Forum

When you think of financial wealth and financial inclusion, despite this being a recurrent discussion since FinTech came to life in the way we know it, say 15 years ago, challenges remain significant, not only in emerging economies:

  • 30% of micro loans for small business is lost in transportation and lost business
  • Globally 1.4 billion adults are unbanked, yet two-thirds of them own a mobile phone that could help them access financial services
  • 71% of people have an account in developing countries today, up from 42% a decade ago
  • In developing countries, excluding China where digital payments are widespread, some 40% of people who made a digital payment from their account (to a merchant or for a utility service) did so for the very first time since the start of the pandemic
  • The total number of digital wallet users will exceed 5.2 billion globally in 2026, up from 3.4 billion in 2022

At the Inclusive FinTech Forum this year we will discuss some of the big issues around the topic of financial wealth:

  • Infrastructure and interoperability, how digital wallets grew exponentially but often are not interconnected
  • The huge disparity between (African) mature and frontiers markets, and between urban and rural settings
  • Access to micro-capital still being expensive and oddly distributed
  • Embedded finance in emerging economies, and how the “super app” approach can be effective
