Daniel Mainda

Chief Executive Officer, Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC)

Mr. Daniel Mainda is the Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority (NIFCA), Kenya’s flagship institutional platform under Vision 2030 mandated to position Nairobi as a premier international financial centre and gateway for global capital into Africa.

As CEO, he leads the strategic development, regulatory architecture, and global positioning of the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC). Under his stewardship, the Centre has advanced key institutional reforms, introduced investor-focused incentives, strengthened regulatory coordination, and deepened Kenya’s engagement with international financial markets, multilateral institutions, sovereign investors, and global asset managers.

Mr. Mainda works closely with the National Treasury, financial sector regulators, development partners, and private sector leaders to attract regional headquarters, holding companies, private equity and venture capital funds, reinsurance platforms, digital asset firms, and other globally active financial institutions into Kenya. He has played a central role in shaping policy proposals that enhance tax predictability, regulatory clarity, and legal certainty — reinforcing Nairobi’s credibility as a rules-based jurisdiction for cross-border capital flows.

A seasoned executive with experience spanning financial services, corporate governance, and public policy, Mr. Mainda is widely recognized for bridging government and markets, aligning national development priorities with private capital mobilization. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to institutional credibility, transparency, and long-term capital formation — principles central to Kenya’s ambition to emerge as a globally competitive financial centre.
