Entrepreneurship and Startup Growth

Empowering Entrepreneurship and Startup Growth

The theme of entrepreneurship and startup growth at IFF 2025 highlights the critical role of innovation and business creation as key drivers of economic development in Africa. It focuses on the importance of nurturing local entrepreneurs to stimulate growth and drive sustainable progress.

Entrepreneurship & Startup Growth

Key elements of this theme include:

  • Access to funding: Providing local entrepreneurs with the financial resources needed to launch and scale their businesses.
  • Mentorship opportunities: Offering guidance and support from experienced business leaders to help startups navigate challenges and grow effectively.
  • Market access: Facilitating connections to domestic and global markets, enabling entrepreneurs to expand their reach and impact.
  • Job creation: Encouraging new business ventures that generate employment opportunities and enhance productivity.
  • Strategic initiatives: Implementing policies and programs that empower entrepreneurs to solve local challenges and foster long-term economic growth.

Why spotlight Entrepreneurship and Startup Growth at IFF 2025?

Entrepreneurship is a key driver of innovation and economic development in Africa. The African Development Bank's 2020 report on MSMEs estimates that these enterprises contribute over 80% of employment in many African countries. Supporting entrepreneurial initiatives fosters a culture of creativity and problem-solving essential for addressing contemporary challenges. Additionally, the World Bank's Digital Economy for Africa (DE4A) initiative aims to ensure every individual is digitally enabled by 2030, providing resources, mentorship, and access to markets that can unlock the potential of local entrepreneurs and stimulate overall economic prosperity.

“Where policymakers, capital providers and think tanks converge to shape the future of financial technology.”

The rapid pace of technological innovation and adoption has resulted in increased regulatory and policy considerations, which in turn has investors seeking answers. The Capital Meets Policy Dialogue is a timely first-of-its-kind call for policymakers to share their strategic perspectives on FinTech regulations, including sectors of interest and concern as well as their view on emerging risks. Conversely, the Dialogue is an equal measure call for investors to share the likely direction of capital, including sectoral investment outlook, opportunities, challenges, and risks. Above all, the dialogue is an ask for both parties to share expectations more openly.

Attendance at The Capital Meets Policy Dialogue is by invite-only, if you wish to join us please register, subject to approval.
